Site Visit VI: (St John of God Medical Centre [under construction])

St John of God Medical Centre

Architect: Billard Leece Partnership
Builders: Umow Lai & Associates

This shows the entire base of the building. It appears to be a mix of pre-cast and in situ poured reinforced concrete.

The photo shows the steel pin joint supports attached to the vertical side concrete walls and concrete floor. These are in place until the rest of the building has been built and it can support itself. The walls are stopping the earth from pouring in over the site.
If the temporary bracing was removed, you never know what could happen. Maybe even this:

This image shows a couple of things.
It clearly shows the reinforcement coming out the top of one of the concrete columns. It also shows the temporary form work that is creating a mini slab for the temporary prop bracing holding the wall up.

Just look at the amount of reinforcement in this wall! It must be coming out of the section that is already set so that it overlaps with the following section. Otherwise the wall would not be one unit and may cause CHAOS!
